There are so many subscriptions out there, from snack boxes, to entertainment, to education.

How do you choose what is worth spending your money on and what is not? As a family of five, we work hard to keep our spending low, but a few of these subscriptions have helped us save money and provide certain benefits to our family. I have compiled a list of my favorite monthly memberships/subscriptions for families. Each of these companies provides a great free trial so you can try it out and see if it is right for you!

The Best Free Trials for Families

ABC Mouse

With ABC Mouse you get 30 days free! This will give you plenty of time to see if your child enjoys it and if he/she is making any progress. With one free trial or membership, you can sign up each of your children without an extra cost. This is nice if you have more than one like I do. And if you decide you like it, you can sign up for less than $80 for the whole year. Check out my full review here!

Epic! Kids Books

Are you a book hoarder like I am? Our collection of children’s books continues to grow at my house. Thank goodness I found Epic! It is an online children’s book library with thousands of well known and popular children’s books. You get unlimited books each month for one low price and will find books for your toddler all the way to your tween. You can get a free 30 day trial here! And if your kids love it like mine, it is less than $5 a month to continue the membership. Pretty amazing deal!

Audible

I love to read. Especially non fiction. It is one of my favorite ways to learn new things. However, I never find time to sit down and read now that I have three little ones running around. If I pick up a book at night, I am asleep before I finish the first page. So audio books have become my new way to enjoy a book. I can listen while I exercise, cook, clean, during naptime while doing other things, and so on. Audible has hundreds of thousands of books. They offer a 30 day free trial and you get two free audiobooks just for trying it out. The best part is, if you don’t want to stick with it after your trial runs out, you can still keep the free books at no charge. Even if you don’t expect yourself to sign up for the monthly membership, give the free trial a go and snag your two free books!

Prime

Amazon Prime gives you 30 free days to try it too! This is great if you have a few things you are wanting to purchase and want to try out their free shipping. Another great benefit of the trial are the movies and shows you can watch for free. Amazon Prime has way more to offer than just free shipping, especially for families, including unlimited photo storage, kindle books, and  unlimited music streaming. It is worth your time to take a look and give it a try.

Ebates

So ebates isn’t a free trial…it is always free! Ebates makes it super easy to make money from shopping at the stores you usually shop at anyway. Here’s a great article that will tell you everything you have ever wanted to know about ebates! And you get $10 dollars when you make your first purchase so why not get started today?

Netflix

When we decided to get rid of cable, we gave Netflix a try. They offer a One Month free trial. It was perfect to check out the selection of shows and movies that were offered for as low as $7.99 per month. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to cable, this might be a great way to go.

Ancestry.com

If you haven’t yet tried Ancestry.com, I highly recommend it. When I did my free trial, I was hooked. Trust me, it can be addicting. So many people use Ancestry now that it is easy to find connections and create your family tree even if you do not have much knowledge of your history. I found drivers license records, military records, and so much more in my first few days on Ancestry. You don’t have to keep a continuous subscription either. You can do a 14 day free trial and all the information will be saved if you decide to pick it up again at a later time.

Photoshop

Adobe offers a 30 day free trial on all of their products including Illustrator, Lightroom, Photoshop and many more. If you love taking pictures of your family, this is an amazing deal. Lightroom is my favorite editing app, but Photoshop has so many great programs it may be hard to choose the best one. Take advantage of the 30 day trial and decide if any are right for you. Or just use your 30 days to edit all of your favorite photos!

Norton Internet Security

Internet security is very important, especially if you have kids and family using the internet frequently. Norton security is highly rated and offers a 60 day free trial. That gives you two months of full protection to decide if Norton is the right company for you.

Microsoft Office 365

Office 365 includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Access, and Publisher. You can sign up for a One Month free trial before deciding if you want to continue the membership and you will receive full access to all of these programs!
