I am always searching for bible verses to teach kids about who God really is. As I talk to my kids about God, I hope they begin to see how wonderful He is.

Bible verses to teach kids

I want to teach my children to rely on God first, before anything else. To seek His wisdom when they are making decisions and to have a relationship with him that is unconditional. So first, I need to model this to them by sharing how I rely on God and seek his wisdom. I also want to share who God is with them so they can begin to understand His unfailing love for us.

I try to have a short bible time with my kids every morning . We often read our favorite Bible resource ever, “The Jesus Storybook Bible,” by Sally Lloyd-Jones. I really can’t say enough about this book. My kids love it and they ask me to read it to them over and over. The Bible stories are easy for kids to understand, they are engaging, and the pictures are incredible.

If you are looking for a fun way to engage your kids in the Bible, I highly recommend this book.

Now I’ll be honest, since preschool started and we have been getting used to a new time schedule, it has been pushed to the side and our regular morning routine is a mess as we adjust. (I know. I do not want to lose site of what’s important, but I’m a real person, and right now, we are running out the door barely dressed to get to school on time.) This is not the only time I talk about God with my kids. There are many times throughout the day that He naturally comes up because, let’s face it, he’s pretty involved in every aspect of our lives. So we have meaningful conversations that often lead to questions and discussions.

Recently, one of these conversations went like this:

My son, “Mom, what do you think God’s body looks like?”
Me, “Well, God doesn’t really have a body like we do.”
My son, “You mean he’s just a big, giant head?”

So you can see, we have meaningful discussions that really get to the bottom of who God is. ?

As I have been seeking my own wisdom, I have come across many bible verses to teach kids who God is. I thought there might be some parents out there, feeling the pressure like I am, that could benefit from a list, too. So here it is!
